We invite you to come and experience the timeless story of Christ's birth, as told by the MDUMC youth. This storytelling is a heartwarming retelling of the holy night in Bethlehem when Jesus was born to bring peace, hope, and love to the world.

Join us as the Music Ministry performs its annual Christmas Concert, where the joyous melodies and heartfelt performances will move you into the Christmas spirit! Let the beautiful music, festive atmosphere, and holiday cheer fill your heart as we celebrate this season together.

West Campus - The Refuge

Join us for Intermission for Children, a respite program from the Special Needs Ministry on December 14th for children with special need from 9:00-11:30 am. Children will be matched one on one with a volunteer to enjoy a puppet show, an optional visit with Santa, a train ride and a play experience in our sensory friendly snow. Main Campus - Wesley Hall

Join us for the annual Advent Luncheon on Thursday, December 12th from 12:00 - 2:00pm. We will share in fellowship over a delicious meal prepared by the MDUMC Kitchen. Ken Ballard, our Director of Contemporary Worship, will provide us with some festive entertainment. The afternoon will be filled with fun as we celebrate our amazing Older Adult ministry! Main Campus Sanctuary

MDUMC will host the Houston Ebony Opera Guild as it presents its annual Christmas concert called "Christmas Unsung: Voices from the Margins". The concert will feature stories, composers, and music that are often not heard in the season, particularly classical choral works representing the African diaspora. Conducted by R. DeAndre Johnson, the concert is free and open to the public.

MDUMC Children’s choir spread the joy of Christmas through their festive pageant. Experience this free concert performed by our incredible children’s music ministry.

Main Campus - Library & Edith Moore Nature Center

This adult class introduces Freeform Contemplative Walking, a practice of connecting with the Holy Spirit while walking in nature. Participants will learn the practice's scriptural and philosophical basis, then take a guided walk through the Edith Moore Nature Center, concluding with reflection in the library. No prior experience is required, but participants should be able to walk on uneven trails. Wear comfortable shoes, bring a journal, cell phone, and headphones. Meet in the library on Main Campus. Led by Mark Antley, Contemplative Practitioner and MDUMC member since 2022.

West Campus - The Refuge

Whether you have just joined or are considering joining, it is recommended to attend Next Steps.

Our Next Steps class is happening Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 12:15 pm at The Refuge on our West Campus. In the Next Steps class you will learn more about what it means to be a member of the Methodist Church and also at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. There will also be an opportunity to learn about the many ways you can get plugged in at MDUMC outside of worship including Sunday School classes, Bible Studies, volunteer opportunities, and much more. 

Lunch will be provided at no cost to you as well as childcare for those that need it.

Main Campus - Wesley Hall

You're invited to attend our 2024 Year-End Celebration and Charge Conference on Monday, November 11 at 6:00 PM in Wesley Hall.  A United Methodist charge conference is an annual gathering at which we share stories of the work that God has been doing in our midst, discuss goals for the year ahead, and conduct some regular business of the church. It's also an important expression of the United Methodist connection as our District Superintendent, Rev. Kip Gilts, will help to lead us in a time of worship and share what is happening in our annual conference and how MDUMC can make an impact among other United Methodist churches in our region.

West Campus - The Journey

Join us for an evening with the Journey Band performing some of their most loved worship songs over the last decade. We will be celebrating the release of the Journey Band's first album available on all streaming services titled "Offerings, volume 1". Come and enjoy a concert by our current and past musicians and worship leaders and celebrate all that God is doing in our community. Whether you're seeking renewal or simply want to worship with others, this is an event you won’t want to miss! Bring your friends and family for a night of music, fellowship, and worship. Shamba Ya Amani - 8401 Dairy View Lane

Shamba Ya Amani (“the Farm of Peace” in Swahili) is located in the Alief area and directed by FAM’s Women’s Empowerment Group. Members of this group work together each Saturday, along with volunteers, to plant, maintain, and harvest community rows as well as individual family beds. Shamba is also home to a number of beehives that are tended by mothers and youth in the FAM community.

We are worshiping together at combined services at 9:30 & 11 AM in the Sanctuary to celebrate all saints. There will not be any contemporary services at the Journey. We hope you’ll join us for this blended Sunday!

Join us for an All Saints Sunday Dinner hosted by MDUMC pastors and staff. Together, we’ll explore practical strategies for navigating the holiday season amidst grief, surrounded by others who understand and support you. You'll find solace knowing you're not alone on this journey.

All Saints Concert | 7 PM | Main Campus - Sanctuary

Join us for a moving concert featuring Samuel Barber’s Adagio For Strings and Dan Forrest’s Requiem For The Living. Requiem For The Living is designed to “form a narrative just as much for the living, and their own struggle with pain and sorrow, as for the dead”. Led by Dr. Stephen Martin, this performance with chancel choir, string orchestra, woodwinds, and harp, offers a profound narrative of hope and remembrance. During the concert, there will be moments to light candles in memory of loved ones who have passed. All are welcome at this free concert!

It’s time for our annual Blessing of the Animals at MDUMC! All are welcome to attend and bring their furred, feathered, scaly, or finned friends to receive a blessing from our pastors. The Houston-based APOLLO CHAMBER PLAYERS "performs with rhythmic flair and virtuosity" (The Strad) and "recasts music for a diverse and multi-ethnic generation" (Strings Magazine) the ensemble has performed for sold-out audiences at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and it is featured frequently on American Public Media's nationally-syndicated program Performance Today. West Campus - The Journey Worship Center

Join us for an inspirational evening with motivational speaker, singer, and songwriter Tony Memmel. Tony was born with one arm and found and developed his God-given gifts and love for music, learning to play guitar and inspire and encourage others. All are welcome to this free event!

Main Campus - Chapel

On October 15th, join us for a day of reflection and support for National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Our prayer chapel will be open all day, offering a safe space to light a candle, lift up a prayer, or simply find solace. Our clergy and staff will be available for those seeking prayer or a listening ear. Additionally, we will have resources on hand to offer guidance and comfort. West Campus - The Journey

Join us on Friday, September 20th at 7:00 PM at the Journey Worship Space on our West Campus for a concert titled Some Enchanted Evening featuring MDUMC Music Staff, Agape Singers, and invited friends!

Selections from Broadway and Opera classics will be offered as well as dessert and raffled prizes! 

This is a fundraiser for the Music and Fine Arts Department at MDUMC

Tickets are $40 with a maximum of $100 for families.

Main Campus - Wesley Hall

Memorial Drive United Methodist Church is traveling to England in the Summer of 2025 and you are invited! We will be embarking on a “Methodism Tour” to experience the rich history of the United Methodist Church and learn about Wesleyan tradition. The chancel choir will be performing concerts with orchestra in beautiful cathedrals and our clergy will lead tours and lectures about the history of the Methodist Church. There will be a healthy mix of scheduled excursions and free time for individuals to explore at their leisure. All of our hotels will be high quality and close to city center, so all leisure will be within walking distance. This is a trip for people of all ages and we do hope you’ll consider joining your MDUMC family on this Christ-centered experience.  

A Respite Program of the Special Needs Ministry

September 14  |  9-11:30 AM | West Campus

Join us for Intermission! This is a respite program from the Special Needs Ministry. On September 14th teens (13 and up) and adults with special needs are invited to the Refuge.
