Shamba Ya Amani (“the Farm of Peace” in Swahili) is located in the Alief area and directed by FAM’s Women’s Empowerment Group. Members of this group work together each Saturday, along with volunteers, to plant, maintain, and harvest community rows as well as individual family beds. Shamba is also home to a number of beehives that are tended by mothers and youth in the FAM community.

You're invited to attend our 2024 Year-End Celebration and Charge Conference on Monday, November 11 at 6:00 PM in Wesley Hall.  A United Methodist charge conference is an annual gathering at which we share stories of the work that God has been doing in our midst, discuss goals for the year ahead, and conduct some regular business of the church. It's also an important expression of the United Methodist connection as our District Superintendent, Rev. Kip Gilts, will help to lead us in a time of worship and share what is happening in our annual conference and how MDUMC can make an impact among other United Methodist churches in our region.

Our Next Steps class is happening Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 12:15 pm at The Refuge on our West Campus. In the Next Steps class you will learn more about what it means to be a member of the Methodist Church and also at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. There will also be an opportunity to learn about the many ways you can get plugged in at MDUMC outside of worship including Sunday School classes, Bible Studies, volunteer opportunities, and much more. 

Lunch will be provided at no cost to you as well as childcare for those that need it.

Wesley Heritage and Choir Tour

Trip Dates: June 17-25, 2025 | England

Memorial Drive United Methodist Church is traveling to England in the Summer of 2025 and you are invited! We will be embarking on a “Methodism Tour” to experience the rich history of the United Methodist Church and learn about Wesleyan tradition. The chancel choir will be performing concerts with orchestra in beautiful cathedrals and our clergy will lead tours and lectures about the history of the Methodist Church. There will be a healthy mix of scheduled excursions and free time for individuals to explore at their leisure. All of our hotels will be high quality and close to city center, so all leisure will be within walking distance. This is a trip for people of all ages and we do hope you’ll consider joining your MDUMC family on this Christ-centered experience!

Join us for an All Saints Sunday Dinner hosted by MDUMC pastors and staff. Together, we’ll explore practical strategies for navigating the holiday season amidst grief, surrounded by others who understand and support you. You'll find solace knowing you're not alone on this journey.

All Saints Concert | 7 PM | Main Campus - Sanctuary

Join us for a moving concert featuring Samuel Barber’s Adagio For Strings and Dan Forrest’s Requiem For The Living. Requiem For The Living is designed to “form a narrative just as much for the living, and their own struggle with pain and sorrow, as for the dead”. Led by Dr. Stephen Martin, this performance with chancel choir, string orchestra, woodwinds, and harp, offers a profound narrative of hope and remembrance. During the concert, there will be moments to light candles in memory of loved ones who have passed. All are welcome at this free concert!

For this reason, we host an event called Pizza with the Pastors where you can meet others new to MDUMC or the surrounding community. You'll also get a chance to talk with our pastors and get to know them better outside of the church hour. 

At Pizza with the Pastors you'll hear more about ways to get involved beyond Sunday morning worship and learn how to become a member at MDUMC.

Enjoy shopping at booths from over 70 vendors which blanket our main campus.  Stay refreshed with a yummy bake sale item and enjoy a delicious boxed lunch.   Your visit to Hearts & Hands is never complete without a stroll through the silent auction.  What a wonderful way to usher in the Christmas spirit while supporting missions benefiting women, children and youth.

For those wanting a more personal involvement, there are a variety of volunteer or baking opportunities as well as donation needs for our silent auction and preview party.  Special event tickets or family vacation getaways you might have to offer are all welcomed! Every year the youth at MDUMC sell pumpkins to benefit summer mission trips. We thank you for your continued support in buying pumpkins from us! The patch opens on Saturday, September 28th at 10:30 AM. See you then!

We depend on our AWESOME volunteers to sell our pumpkins each year. We would love for students to be involved in selling, but a parent volunteer must be with them at the shift.

Students are about to head back to school, and it's an exciting time of the year at MDUMC! This fall, we are partnering with organizations in our community that are working to ensure that all children in our area are sent back to school ready for a successful school year and that local teachers are supported. This means helping to provide necessary uniforms, school supplies, and financial support to those in our local community.

Volunteers are needed for a FAM youth event to be held from 9am to 12pm on Saturday, July 20 at Westbury UMC! Roles involve registration, set up and clean up, and similar tasks.
