Main Campus - Prayer Chapel

On World Cancer Day, our Prayer Chapel will offer a sacred space for support, healing, and hope for those affected by cancer. Clergy, staff, and Stephen Ministers will be available throughout the day to pray with visitors and provide resources for those impacted by cancer—patients, survivors, caregivers, and loved ones. At Pizza with the Pastors, you'll hear more about ways to get involved beyond Sunday morning worship and learn how to become a member at MDUMC. You'll also have a chance to talk with our pastors and get to know them better outside church hours.

This special worship service is a safe space to name loss and begin to grasp the hope of Emmanuel -- God With Us--through it all. With beautiful, reflective music, guided prayer, candle-lighting, and supportive community the Service of the Longest Night reminds us that "the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it."

Join us for the annual Advent Luncheon on Thursday, December 12th from 12:00 - 2:00pm. We will share in fellowship over a delicious meal prepared by the MDUMC Kitchen. Main Campus Sanctuary

MDUMC will host the Houston Ebony Opera Guild as it presents its annual Christmas concert called "Christmas Unsung: Voices from the Margins". The concert will feature stories, composers, and music that are often not heard in the season, particularly classical choral works representing the African diaspora. Conducted by R. DeAndre Johnson, the concert is free and open to the public.

Main Campus - Library & Edith Moore Nature Center

This adult class introduces Freeform Contemplative Walking, a practice of connecting with the Holy Spirit while walking in nature. Participants will learn the practice's scriptural and philosophical basis, then take a guided walk through the Edith Moore Nature Center, concluding with reflection in the library. No prior experience is required, but participants should be able to walk on uneven trails. Wear comfortable shoes, bring a journal, cell phone, and headphones. Meet in the library on Main Campus. Led by Mark Antley, Contemplative Practitioner and MDUMC member since 2022.

Our Next Steps class is happening Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 12:15 pm at The Refuge on our West Campus. In the Next Steps class you will learn more about what it means to be a member of the Methodist Church and also at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. There will also be an opportunity to learn about the many ways you can get plugged in at MDUMC outside of worship including Sunday School classes, Bible Studies, volunteer opportunities, and much more.

Main Campus - Wesley Hall

You're invited to attend our 2024 Year-End Celebration and Charge Conference on Monday, November 11 at 6:00 PM in Wesley Hall.  A United Methodist charge conference is an annual gathering at which we share stories of the work that God has been doing in our midst, discuss goals for the year ahead, and conduct some regular business of the church. It's also an important expression of the United Methodist connection as our District Superintendent, Rev. Kip Gilts, will help to lead us in a time of worship and share what is happening in our annual conference and how MDUMC can make an impact among other United Methodist churches in our region.

West Campus - The Journey

Join us for an evening with the Journey Band performing some of their most loved worship songs over the last decade. We will be celebrating the release of the Journey Band's first album available on all streaming services titled "Offerings, volume 1". Come and enjoy a concert by our current and past musicians and worship leaders and celebrate all that God is doing in our community. Shamba Ya Amani - 8401 Dairy View Lane

Shamba Ya Amani (“the Farm of Peace” in Swahili) is located in the Alief area and directed by FAM’s Women’s Empowerment Group. Members of this group work together each Saturday, along with volunteers, to plant, maintain, and harvest community rows as well as individual family beds. Shamba is also home to a number of beehives that are tended by mothers and youth in the FAM community.

All Saints Concert | 7 PM | Main Campus - Sanctuary

Join us for a moving concert featuring Samuel Barber’s Adagio For Strings and Dan Forrest’s Requiem For The Living. Requiem For The Living is designed to “form a narrative just as much for the living, and their own struggle with pain and sorrow, as for the dead”. Led by Dr. Stephen Martin, this performance with chancel choir, string orchestra, woodwinds, and harp, offers a profound narrative of hope and remembrance. During the concert, there will be moments to light candles in memory of loved ones who have passed. All are welcome at this free concert!

It’s time for our annual Blessing of the Animals at MDUMC! All are welcome to attend and bring their furred, feathered, scaly, or finned friends to receive a blessing from our pastors.
