Learning at MDUMC
We hope you take time to consider the ways that studies and classes at MDUMC will make a difference in your own life as well as in the life of your church and community. As we examine our call to serve God and our neighbors, there are many opportunities in our midst to deepen and strengthen our lives with the hope that we will all become better disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

“The Genesis Project” is Bob’s term for God’s original will, purpose, and intent ever since “in the beginning” of Genesis 1. It is made manifest at long last through Jesus’ incarnation, life, death, resurrection, and ascension. As people created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27) we are to bear and reflect the nature of God as images in ancient temples did. That temple is not a building but all of heaven and earth. That image we are to bear and reflect includes God’s ONENESS, the intimacy, wholeness, connection, and love of Father for Son, Son for Spirit, and Spirit for Father. We are to bear and reflect this ONENESS in four key relationships – with God, others, creation, and even self. When we experience this ONENESS, thus living out Jesus’ prayer in John 17, we experience what God has always wanted for us. In the forgiveness offered in our justification – a right relationship of ONENESS with God -- and the sanctification – inward change – made possible by the risen Christ, we experience the undoing of the corrosion and corruption in all four key relationships of the sin which was introduced in Genesis 3 and which then spread like a virus through all of humankind. We experience life on earth as it is in heaven, and we experience it now, in this life, in this body, individually and as communities of Christ followers.
