What is the mission and vision of CrossWalk Houston?
Our mission is to empower our neighbors to reach their full potential by providing educational opportunities, essential tools and the love and support of MDUMC. Our vision is to take the love of God outside the walls of MDUMC and be a loving, empowering and tangible presence at CrossWalk Houston.
Where is CWH and whom are we focusing on serving?
CrossWalk currently has a small office, computer lab and two training facilities at the Outreach Center of West Houston at 725 Bateswood Dr. (77079).
We serve the greater SBISD area with more of a presence in the 77079 community. We are currently working to bring CWH classes onto school campuses in need of adult ESL.
Are there other organizations CrossWalk Houston is working with in the area?
The main organizations we work with are Literacy Advance of Houston, Spring Branch ISD, Family Point Resources, Outreach Center of West Houston, Harris County Department of Education and area churches.
What courses are taught and how were those chosen?
At CWH we offer a range of ESL classes for adult learners Monday – Thursdays in the mornings and evenings. Basic computer & citizenship courses are available when a class is formed. Conversation English and various seminars for community support are offered throughout the year.
All of our offerings are selected based on the needs of the community we serve.
