Holiday Helpers

MDUMC Holiday Helpers will have many outreach opportunities in which to share the light of Christ during the Advent season. Please prayerfully consider how you would like to serve through the following opportunities:

Westside Homeless Prevention

Help a family this Christmas by purchasing their Christmas gifts. These families are under a strict financial planning program and could use your help in making Christmas a little brighter both for the children and the parents. Stop by the Advent Table in Friendship Court and pick up information about your family. This is a great way for Sunday School classes or small groups to participate together.

CrossWalk Houston

Family Point Resources and CWH are collaborating on a Christmas Store for the families served at the Outreach Center of West Houston. Stop by our table in Friendship Court or at The Journey to drop off gift cards, learn about other ways to help, or sign up to wrap gifts and help families while they shop. For more information contact SedoniaFinstad@mdumc.org.

Angel Tree

Provide and deliver gifts for a child on behalf of his or her incarcerated parent. Look for the Advent Table in Friendship Court or The Journey Missions Room to pick up information about a child.

MAM Christmas Share  |  Due Sunday, December 3

Pick up a shopping list and bag in Friendship Court and purchase gifts for a child through MAM (Memorial Assistance Ministries). Gifts can be returned in the shopping bag to Friendship Court.

Goodie Bags  |  Due Sunday, December 3

Pick up a “Goodie Bag” in Friendship Court and fill it with the items on the attached list. These bags will be distributed to several locations during our Moveable Feast event.

Moveable Feast  |  Saturday, December 9

Join the fun as MDUMC teams prepare and serve holiday meals to groups throughout our city: CrossWalk Houston, MAM, Mission of Yahweh, and Rise Against Hunger.

Seafarer’s Boxes  |  Due Sunday, December 17

Empy white boxes will be available in Friendship Court and The Journey to be filled with items included on the attached list. These boxes will be delivered to the Seafarers’ Center where they will be distributed to workers entering the Port of Houston during the holiday season.

Blanket Buddies  |  Due Sunday, December 17

Help a child stay warm this winter. Purchase one or more twin size blankets and drop them off in Friendship Court or The Journey to be delivered to children in the city of Houston.
